The measure
Capsule size chart: #000 to #5
Capsule sizes run backwards: the more zeros, the bigger the capsule. Knowing your size tells you which tamper to use and how many capsules make a serving.
The sizes in order
From largest to smallest: #000, #00, #0, #1, #2, #3, #4, #5. #00 is the most common size for home supplements. #000 is the largest you can comfortably swallow. #3 to #5 are used for small doses and for children's or pet portions.
Rough capacity
How much powder fits depends on its density. As a rough guide for a medium powder, loosely filled: #000 about 1 g, #00 about 0.7 g, #0 about 0.5 g, #1 about 0.4 g, #2 about 0.3 g, #3 about 0.2 g. Tamping can fit up to twice as much.
